Photographs and Adventures

In this photo Peter is part way up the initial climb on the canyon. You can see tiny figures at the top of the steps. It’s quite a climb and I have to admit I needed a couple of rests on the way up, but it was definitely worth the effort.

This photo was taken at the top of the canyon where it finally flattened out a bit after the strenuous climb. It was well worthwhile.

Picnic spot

This family was taking a well-earned rest under a ghost gum growing out of the rock. The children were doing really well, the youngest would have only been about 3 years old but they were full of enthusiasm for the adventure and the creatures they had seen.

Far vista

We suddenly came across this little plateau amongst the rocks where this gum tree grew. It was absolutely amazing.

The Lost City with it’s rich red domes that resemble houses and streets. This landscape has eroded from solid rock over thousands and thousands of years.

Sheer rock wall

Wow, I don’t know high we were, but it felt like we were on top of the world, and some divine force had cut the rock away leaving this absolutely smooth escarpment. If you look carefully you can see two people standing at the top of the cliff, and that will give you some idea of the height of this sheer wall of rock.

I get dizzy every time I look at this photo. It was a scary photo to take, I was leaning over the edge of the cliff, and Peter was looking on with a very worried expression. But how breathtaking! And the image doesn’t really do justice to the reality of the sheer drop.

Lonely ghost gum

This gnarled old ghost gum was just beautiful.

Double WOW!! What an amazing place – now I’m really jealous I didn’t fly across with Mel and meet you over there. What amazing colours in the landscape and the sky. That cliff face (Vertigo) is just incredible too. You might have risked death to get the shot – but it was worth it!!! Just amazing!

Thanks again for the update. It’s always fun keeping track of your adventure and travelling along with you! 🙂
